Comparing quantities is done with a ratio. So that you always have 1:x, to find x, divide both quantities by the number of one of the quantities. For example, to find the ratio of 2 meters to 10 meters, divide 2/2 to find 1, then divide 10/2 also. This gives you 1:5.
