Answer: At the replication fork, the helix unwinds into 2 separate strands.

Explanation: DNA polymerase joins individual nucleotides to produce a new strand of DNA. This makes a brand new strand that is identical to the first. The DNA first replicates its information to ensure it is the same in the new strand.
