The caste system was a system of 4 ranks. The higher cast are the ones with finer features and lighter skin, and the lower class are the ones with darker skin. The higher caste tends to be the wealthy, and the lower class are what they call "the untouchables." It's unfortunately a culturally accepted form or racism.
