How would you go about testing for the presence of SO4 2- in the presence of NO 3-?

This is a question in my lab and I can’t seem to understand.

Answer:

Test for sulphate ion present in a given salt: Add barium chloride solution. If white precipitate is formed, presence of SO42- ion is confirmed.
