If there is a change in the level of the cost driver, then total fixed costs will remain the same and total variable costs will change. This means that the costs that have been fixed at a certain price (promised to remain the same price regardless of market fluctuation) will stay what they are, while the variable costs will change (prices that are susceptible to market fluctuation).
